So Post Sea Otter ... (watch for more photos / videos / stories at www.trekcanada.ca)
Sunday TayNeezy broke a chain racing cat 3, I went for Strava Points at Toro Park across the road from Sea Otter. Norco tried to sell taylor a 29er. 2nd Place P2A cyclocross start Schooler sat waiting for a 30degree cyclocross race at Sea Otter (in kit) .
3 Rox goons heckled kids to do tricks so they could get 3rox Beer can cooling devices, I did a trick for them but did not agree with the beer can covers. While Emily socialized in the foreground, perhaps with Cory Hancock of 'oneupped' fame (needs updating).
After extensive packing, I went into Salinas for one last In and Out with DJ TayNeezy before he left into the night, back to the promise land. I hope the details of his journey home and still impending border crossing/dirtbike import will become public at some point. Surely some great adventures to finish off a super 2012 Winter in Cali.
So all on my lonesome, with a micro mini van stuffed with super awesome bikes, sweet potatoes, coconut and 4 methods of coffee production I headed to Sedona. (*possibly crying , in the car, while listening to John Mayor, with the departure of Tayneezy after our 4 month bro-down.)
First stop Snoopy Rock, I was told it was really tech in Sedona. It certainly had sections but I would compare it to Buckwallow (in Ontario) ... if you have basic skills down, in that you watched the tech tuesdays series, your pretty safe for the most part here, definitely some challenges to be found and I am sure I missed some but the Superfly ate up whatever it saw.Cathedral rock ... was probably the bumpiest section the hardtail 29er and I took on with an extended section of slick rock ... I think hardtail is not a big deal in Sedona. As a certain awesome Norco Rep told me, "10 years ago they ran hardtails and vbrakes" ... so 29er with big tires, comfy saddle and awesome ERGON GRIPS is like cheating.
Then onto Slim Shady Trail, which was awesome simply due to my pubescent love of gangsta rap ... it also had pretty rad flow steeze
Then a big climb up MUNDS WAGON TRAIL the **Garmin Connect course** I used neglected to tell me I was following the route backwards so some nice bumpy, step up climbing practice and then double track on downhill ... still pretty nice views and awesome workout.
So Basically very lucky to have ridden so many awesome mtb trails in the last 7 days ... this might be close to the best 7 day streak of riding I have had ... ever ! Sea Otter - Toro Canyon - Sedona 2x - Whiskey 50/Prescott ...
If your going anywhere and have a Garmin/GPS definitely try searching Garmin Connect ... It let me come into Sedona Alone and ride basically 5-6 hours of GOOD single track without getting lost or feeling uncomfortable.
Here are my Hacked Gpx routes for Sedona ... Hope you get to use them someday !
1) http://connect.garmin.com/activity/167458746 = Slim Shady - HT - Little Horse
2) http://connect.garmin.com/activity/57197204 = Munds Wagon
3) http://connect.garmin.com/activity/127822416 = Highline Trail
Then onto a PM workout on end of Whiskey 50 course ... found some Ergon folks including Jeff Kerkove (also see Sonya Looney and Yuki Saito blogs are great info sources) to ride me back into Prescott !
